Our Home Performance Testing consists of a thorough basement/crawlspace to attic visual inspection and conducting a series of tests using state of the art, calibrated equipment and software. (Blower Door, manometer, infrared thermal imaging cameras, Carbon Monoxide and gas leak detectors, combustion analyzer, moisture meters and infrared thermometers) These “tools of the trade”, coupled with experience, assist us in evaluating the building for energy saving opportunities. We inspect and identify the thermal barrier (insulation) and air barrier of the building envelope to ensure they are in alignment and measure and rate air infiltration as well as calculating effective R-value of the exterior surfaces. We also test the heating and hot water system(s) for efficiency and safe operation in addition to addressing any comfort issues an Owner may have.
We review utility bills and establish heating, cooling and electrical base line consumption and calculate potential energy savings, typically averaging 10% to 40%, and simple payback on investment into efficiency upgrades.
In addition to energy savings, we also evaluate building durability and moisture problems as well as indoor air quality/ventilation requirements. We provide a comprehensive report with all test results, calculations, and a recommended work scope for the owner and/or efficiency retrofit contractor.
We educate the Owner about available rebates and programs through the State, public utilities, as well as State and Federal tax incentives.
